Listed below are some of the common questions that are asked of our company. If you cannot find the answer to your questions here, feel free to contact us.
Q: What is Soil Stabilization?
A: Soil Stabilization is a process incorporating lime or cement into the soil. This process provides a platform needed to continue working in a variety of weather conditions. Stabilization can also aid in passing compaction tests when working with various soils.

Q: What is Rubblization?
A:Rubblization is an excellent option for existing concrete roads in need of asphalt overlay, but not in a condition adequate to provide a stable base. The old concrete is pulverized to create this base. Rubblization provides full depth breaking of the existing concrete, including debonding of the steel reinforcements.

Q: What is Crack and Seat?
A:Crack and Seat is a pavement breaking and rolling method that enhances asphalt overlays. Old concrete is broken into specific sizes and then rolled to reduce voids under the existing pavement. Asphalt is then paved over this newly formed base.

Q:What is Foamed Asphalt?
A:“Foamed” or “Expanded” asphalt is a road base recycling process that is more timely and substantially cheaper than conventional methods. It uses the existing asphalt, which is pulverized in place while incorporating hot liquid asphalt and water. This method is environmentally friendly because it is 100% recyclable. It is considerably faster since the old asphalt does not need to be hauled away and the hot mix process is done on site. In fact, roads can typically be resurfaced and reopened in less than 24 hours.

Q:What chemical additive do I need for my stabilization project?
A:In general, lime products react best with clay soils and cement products react best with granular soils. Specialties Company has experience with a variety of different materials. No two projects area the same. Specialties representatives will be happy to visit your individual site to help determine the best stabilization method with which to proceed based on your specific soils types and site conditions.
